'Ant Man' is the Definition of Standard

2015, comic book, film reviews, marvel, reviewsLowRes Wunderbred

Look, I was vehemently opposed to seeing this movie because of the way that Marvel treated Edgar Wright after he’d spent nearly 10 years developing the project, but… here we are. I saw it. I am a man without any moral integrity, what can I say?

I’m going to keep this review short, sweet, and to the point. Ant-Man is not bad, it’s pretty enjoyable and moderately funny. But... it's standard Marvel fluff. I can't imagine many viewers returning to Ant-Man like Donner's Superman or Burton's Batman, but I'm also not sure if it was ever really intended to be anything but another cog in the Marvel machine. One step closer to the next cycle.

I will say that I liked this movie much more than I anticipated. Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas were fantastic, respectively, and had great comedic timing. I look forward to at least Rudd’s appearance in Captain America: Civil War
